What to expect
Taking the first step to talk to someone can be difficult. You may know how you feel but sometimes feelings can be difficult to identify.
Maybe you’re in a difficult relationship or you feel that your relationships don’t last. Many of us struggle to make a life transition or cope with a change or loss in our lives. Perhaps you feel your life is lacking meaning.
I can help you make sense of these experiences by understanding their meaning for you and explore ways in which you can help yourself and develop personally.
When you have a greater understanding of yourself, you can find a new perspective on your feelings that may not have felt possible before. Sometimes even small changes in how we view things can make a difference.
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I think a better appreciation of your early life experiences, can lead to a new perspective on your feelings now. We are connected to people throughout our lives and are influenced by parents, family and culture. An awareness of these patterns can be freeing in itself.
We often limit ourselves with judgements and self criticism. I can help you think about the ways in which you can be more compassionate towards yourself.
Seeking counselling for the first time is a positive step in terms of self- care with people often realising this once they start the process of exploration.
I offer one to one counselling both short and long-term, usually on a weekly basis.
